Broadway Limited Imports is excited to bring another one of our most popular HO scale passenger cars to N scale with the debut of the Union Pacific Kenefick Business Car!

A familiar sight on Union Pacific's famous heritage passenger fleet, the Kenefick has traveled the rails for decades and has become one of the railroad's most recognizable business cars. Originally built in 1950 as Coach No. 5446, the car was rebuilt into Business Car No. 99 in 1963 before being renamed Kenefick in 1988 to honor former Union Pacific Chairman and CEO John C. Kenefick.

Over the years, the Kenefick has been part of many of Union Pacific's most memorable excursions and special events. It traveled across the country behind the legendary Big Boy No. 4014 during its celebrated 2019 tour and served as the rear car on President George H.W. Bush's funeral train, securing its place as one of the most iconic cars in Union Pacific's heritage fleet.

For its first-ever N scale production run, we've faithfully recreated the Kenefick in its modern-day appearance, capturing the details that make this historic car so distinctive. Each model features individually controllable lighting and includes several prototypical drumhead options, allowing you to customize the rear of your train for different excursion or business train operations.

Whether you're building a modern Union Pacific excursion train, recreating the Big Boy's famous passenger consist, or adding another standout piece to your collection, the Kenefick Business Car is the perfect finishing touch. With its rich history, striking appearance, and exceptional level of detail, it's a model that belongs behind some of the most famous locomotives in North America.

About the Prototype: Originally constructed by American Car & Foundry in 1950 as Union Pacific Coach No. 5446, the car was rebuilt into Business Car No. 99 in 1963 to serve the railroad's executive fleet. In 1988, it was renamed Kenefick in honor of John C. Kenefick, who served as Union Pacific's Chairman and CEO from 1986 to 1995 and played a key role in the railroad's modernization and expansion.

Today, Kenefick remains an active member of Union Pacific's Heritage Fleet, regularly appearing on executive specials, public excursions, and high-profile events across the railroad's network. Often seen as part of Union Pacific's famous yellow passenger train, it continues to represent the railroad's commitment to preserving its rich history while showcasing one of the most recognizable business cars in modern railroading.
