Before we dive into the Q&A section of this newsletter, we’d like to take a moment to address a question we receive often: “Are you going to make [insert prototype here]?”
The best way for us to evaluate and prioritize future models is through our Product Suggestion Portal. This tool helps us track which locomotives and rolling stock are most requested by the community. The more interest a particular prototype receives, the more likely it is to move up our development list.

Customer Q&A: |
The last section of The Broadway Flyer is all about you, our amazing customers! Every month, we reach out through social media and email, inviting you to send in your questions—and you never disappoint. Whether you're curious about upcoming releases, production timelines, or just wondering what’s next, we love hearing from you. We've gathered a fresh batch of questions, and we’re excited to dive in and share some answers straight from the team! Q: "Are Norfolk and Western Class M 4-8-0s on the horizon for announcement in the next five years?" – Ethan on Facebook A: The M class locomotives are on our radar, but we do not have a timeline for when they might be built. This is not a guarantee, but there’s a decent chance they could be produced within the next five years. Q: "Are there any plans on making more logging locomotives? i.e., Heisler, Climax, 2- and 3-truck Shays, Willamettes, etc." – Chase on Facebook A: Given the success of our Class D Shays, we’re definitely interested in exploring other Shay locomotives. However, we haven’t begun any research or design work on additional logging prototypes at this time. Q: "What about, in the near future, an actual CB&Q steam locomotive in HO scale? Like an O5 4-8-4 such as the 5629, 5632, etc." – Wyatt on Facebook A: Several CB&Q locomotives are on our radar! We haven’t started designing any yet, as we’re currently focused on other prototypes already in the pipeline. Q: "Any chance we can see more CSX OCS cars? Most of the cars have had 2–3 schemes during their time on CSX — with the blue and gray from the YN2 days, the solid navy, and now the modern B&O-inspired scheme. I would definitely buy a full train of both the solid navy and modern B&O scheme." – Wade on Facebook A: We currently have plans to build CSX’s "W. Thomas Rice" / Conrail #9 accurately. However, our current focus for theater cars is on the AT&SF/BNSF "William Barstow Strong." As we've said previously, if sales are strong, we will look into offering more road-specific business cars. Q: "After the PRR G5 and PRR S1, what is the next PRR steam project in line? The PRR Q1? PRR N1/N2sa? PRR D-16? PRR F3? Or the PRR A5?" – Joseph on Facebook A: Those are all great suggestions! As of now, none of those locomotives are currently in development, but that is always subject to change based on demand. So far, the G5 has received the most requests, and that's where our current focus lies. Q: "You teased some pretty interesting paint schemes for your next run of heavyweight business cars. When can we expect to see an announcement for these? Will we see even more schemes?" – John on Facebook A: We don’t have an exact date for the next announcement, but our hope is to release it by the end of this year or early next year. Q: "The HO scale Big Boys are already out for delivery. Do y'all expect the UP passenger cars will have the same fate of an early delivery?" – Kenneth on Facebook A: As of now, we don’t expect that to be the case — especially since those cars are all-new tooling. Projects like F-Units, GP35s, and Big Boys require little or no tooling modification, so they’re often production-ready sooner. Newly tooled items typically take more time due to design reviews, samples, and back-and-forth with our factory. Q: "Any plans to release any of those amazing Union Pacific business cars for those of us who model the 50s & 60s?" – Alex on Facebook A: Those cars are definitely possibilities for the future. Right now, we’re focused on the modern-day versions of UP’s business cars and those frequently used in the steam excursion fleet. Q: "Are there plans for a Stealth version of the MILW 261?" – Patrick on Facebook A: At this time, we do not have plans to build the Milwaukee Road S3 Northern. Q: "Is it a possibility to get a blast from the past and get a new run of SD7/9 diesels? I have two Bluelines and they handle and pull like a dream, and I feel they could benefit from Stealth features and more controllable lighting features." – James on Facebook A: We do not have plans for SD7/9 locomotives, as several other manufacturers have already announced them. Q: "Other than the Union Pacific business cars, the upcoming 2066 power car, and the theater car, are you going to match the paint color with the Walthers cars on any other releases? For example, do the new Pennsylvania heavyweight cars match the paint on the Walthers?" – Walter on Facebook A: We are very confident in our PRR paint colors, as we use paint chips provided by the Pennsylvania Railroad Technical and Historical Society. So we don’t plan to match our paint to the Walthers cars. There are other projects where we have matched another manufacturer’s paint, but we can’t share those details just yet. Q: "Are the N scale 3751 Class 4-8-4s still on the to-do list, or are they a victim of tariffs?" – Robert on Facebook A: Yes, they are still on our to-do list. As of now, they are scheduled for delivery in Spring 2026. Q: "Any chance for pre-1900s stuff? Civil War 4-4-0s and 4-6-0s, for example?" – kylenaber on Instagram A: We currently don’t have any plans for pre-1900 equipment. We’re focused on a wide range of other prototypes at the moment. However, if demand increases — especially through our Product Suggestion Portal — we’ll definitely consider it more seriously. Q: "How about announcing/releasing ATSF #62 (Director’s Club Lounge) and ATSF #53 (Mountainair Business Car) side by side, just like you did with the Union Pacific #420 Fox River Theater Car and the #2066 Power Car? I’d love to have both of these for my ’90s era Business Train." – anthony_angelici on Instagram A: Before we decide to design or announce any future ATSF or BNSF business cars, we want to see how the "William Barstow Strong" car performs. If it meets or exceeds our expectations, we’ll explore additional cars. Q: "When will the next Conductor’s Club model be announced, or when can we expect more information about it?" – litobi on Instagram A: We’ve selected our HO scale locomotive, but we’re still finalizing the N scale version. Both will be announced later this year. For context, we announced last year’s model in October 2024. Q: "Any chance to see some Green Bay and Western?" – cold_war_bricks on Instagram A: We can certainly keep Green Bay and Western in mind for future offerings! We’re not opposed to producing smaller road names. Q: "Was there ever a plan to bring to life a batch of the Southern Pacific AC-9 Class in HO and N scale?" – thecrazyrailroader on Instagram A: We’re still planning to build the AC-9 in HO scale. We experienced a brief pause in design work this past spring, but we’re now ramping up several projects that were already in the design queue. Q: "Will your models ever be sold in UK retailers?" – sholtoflynn on Instagram A: If a dealer in the UK — or anywhere outside the U.S. — wants to carry our models, we encourage them to order through one of our partnered distributors. That way, they’ll have access to our products as soon as they’re announced. Q: "What are the chances of y’all making ATSF 5000? Maybe as a club model?" – oceanliners_from_the_past on Instagram A: Conductor’s Club models are limited to prototypes we already have tooling for. Newly tooled models like the ATSF 5000 would not be eligible until we’ve completed at least one full production run. That wraps up the June edition of The Broadway Flyer. Thanks again to all of you—our amazing customers! We hope you have a great weekend and enjoy the start to your summer! From all of us at BLI, have a great summer and happy railroading! - The BLI Team |
