NEW PRODUCT ANNOUNCEMENT: HO FEF-3, N USRA Mikado, HO 4 Bay Hoppers
Broadway Limited is thrilled to announce several new production runs of several popular HO and N scale products arriving later in 2026.
USRA Heavy/Light Mikado, N Scale

In this run, we’re excited to offer several new paint schemes that are sure to catch your customers’ attention, featuring railroads such as the Milwaukee Road, CB&Q, New York Central, Canadian National, C&O, and Union Pacific.

In addition to these road names, we’re also offering two versions of Southern Railway No. 4501. One version represents the locomotive in its current black paint scheme, while the second depicts the locomotive as it appeared when temporarily lettered as Central of Georgia “MacArthur” No. 699—the WWII-era nickname for the 2-8-2 Mikado—during a special weekend run from Chattanooga, Tennessee, to Summerville, Georgia, in September 2025.

Models will be available with Paragon4 Sound DC/DCC with Smoke, as well as in our Stealth DCC-Ready series. Stealth models feature a Next18 decoder interface and a pre-installed speaker, allowing customers to easily add their preferred aftermarket decoder.

HO Scale ARA 70-Ton 4 Bay Hopper

This new production run delivers the rugged look and heavy-duty presence these classic coal haulers are known for, brought to life with crisp decoration and fine detailing. Offered in distinctly numbered 6-packs, these hoppers make it easy—and affordable—to build an impressive fleet in a hurry. Purchase both the A and B packs and you’ll have 12 uniquely numbered cars, perfect for assembling a long, realistic string of coal service on your layout.

For modelers who value historical accuracy, this run includes prototypically accurate versions of the Baltimore & Ohio, Chesapeake & Ohio, and Milwaukee Road hoppers, featuring roadname-correct lettering, paint schemes, and details that closely match the prototype.

In addition, we’re offering Santa Fe and Union Pacific versions as well. While these cars are not intended to represent specific prototypes, they feature popular railroad branding that many modelers enjoy, making them a great fit for a wide variety of layouts and consists.

Each hopper includes realistic, removable coal loads and fully detailed bay interiors, allowing the cars to be operated loaded or empty and adding visual depth in any setting.

Best of all, these cars are offered in 6-packs for just $159.99—an exceptional value in today’s HO scale market. That price makes it easier than ever to build a large, great-looking freight car fleet without breaking the bank.

Also available is a mixed-variety 6-pack, featuring cars from multiple road names. It’s a perfect way to quickly add variety and visual interest to your freight operations.

About the prototype: The ARA/AAR 70-ton Quad Hopper was a ubiquitous freight car used by railroads across North America. Primarily designed for hauling coal, nearly 12,000 hoppers were built and delivered between 1926 and 1930, making them a common sight on rails for decades.

Union Pacific FEF-3, HO

The king of Union Pacific steam is back!

Broadway Limited Imports is proud to announce the return of the legendary Union Pacific FEF-3 in HO scale—a locomotive that defines size, strength, and steam-era dominance. Massive, muscular, and unmistakable, the FEF-3 was one of the most powerful 4-8-4 locomotives ever built, and our HO scale model captures that authority with heavy die-cast construction for outstanding weight, traction, and jaw-dropping pulling power.

This new production run features a wide range of historically accurate versions of Union Pacific’s famous No. 844, spanning decades of excursion service. Offered are the locomotive’s appearances from 1962–1973 and 1973–1987, each featuring era-correct detailing and decoration. Also returning is the iconic “Greyhound” scheme from 1987–1989, representing the locomotive during its time as No. 8444, followed by the later Greyhound appearance from 1989–1991 after it was renumbered back to No. 844—just before its return to classic black.

Beyond No. 844 / 8444, this production run also includes additional prototypically accurate road numbers, along with a limited selection of fantasy schemes—giving modelers more ways than ever to add this steam-era giant to their roster.

Models will be available equipped with Paragon4 Sound DC/DCC with Smoke for the ultimate out-of-the-box experience, or in our Stealth DCC-Ready series. Stealth models include a 21-pin decoder interface and pre-installed speaker, making it easy to customize with your decoder of choice.

About the prototype: Union Pacific’s Northern-type locomotives were built by ALCO’s Schenectady Works in three classes between August 1937 and December 1944. The first class, designated FEF-1 (for Four-Eight-Four), consisted of locomotives 800–819. Equipped with 77-inch drivers and a 300-psi boiler, these locomotives impressed UP enough to order 15 additional engines between August and October 1939. These locomotives, numbered 820–834, featured 80-inch drivers and larger 14-wheel centipede tenders with a 23,500-gallon capacity and were designated FEF-2.

In December 1944, ten additional 4-8-4 locomotives were delivered, numbered 835–844. These engines featured low-backpressure double stacks and were designated FEF-3. All three classes developed an impressive 63,800 pounds of tractive effort.
