NEW PRODUCT ANNOUNCEMENT! Diecast Metal HO Scale SD70ACe (Run 2!)

Broadway Limited is thrilled to announce a brand-new production run of our highly popular die-cast EMD SD70ACe diesel locomotive in HO scale!

This latest release brings together cutting-edge performance and stunning detail. Each model features a die-cast metal body for maximum weight and pulling power, metal handrails and stanchions for durability, and see-through steps that enhance realism right out of the box.

Models in our Paragon4 Series raise the bar with dynamic features like variable-intensity smoke from the exhaust stack—bringing your layout to life like never before. Every locomotive is carefully crafted with prototypically accurate details tailored to each specific paint scheme.

Railfans and modelers alike will recognize the SD70ACe’s special place in modern railroading. Class I railroads such as Union Pacific, Norfolk Southern, Kansas City Southern, and Montana Rail Link have all commissioned unique and eye-catching paint schemes for their fleets. In 2005, UP unveiled six “Heritage” units, each representing a predecessor railroad. In 2012, NS rolled out 20 commemorative locomotives—including 10 SD70ACes numbered 1065–1074—for its 30th anniversary. Many of these units honor veterans, first responders, and essential workers, making them both meaningful and memorable additions to any collection.

In this exciting second production run, we’re offering twelve prototypical paint schemes and two fantasy schemes, each one packed with accurate detailing and distinctive character. Paragon4 models come fully equipped with sound, smoke, DCC compatibility, and built-in GoPack capacitors for smooth, uninterrupted performance.

Prefer a quieter approach? Each model is also available in our Stealth Series—No-Sound / DCC-Ready versions that operate on DC right out of the box. These models are perfect for hobbyists who want the freedom to install their own decoder. Directional front and rear lighting is included by default, and additional lighting functions may vary depending on your chosen decoder.

Whether you’re building a modern freight roster or showcasing iconic heritage units, this new run of SD70ACes delivers the power, realism, and versatility you’ve come to expect from Broadway Limited.

Have any thoughts been given to producing a Penn G-5. (4-6-0)

For me, a smaller engine would be great. The larger engines look awkward on 24 inch curves of my layout. The Atlantic was almost exclusively a passenger locomotive and i need something for freight. (i do own several 2-8-0s)

Did just purchase the 0-6-0——and it is great! Thanks.

G’day,
Can you please advise if BLI intends producing the BHP Billiton “bubble” paint scheme in the EMD SD70ACe HO scale. If approximately when will it be available?

How about Arkansas and Missouri and their SD70ACe’s. They’ve got beautiful paint jobs.
