NEW PRODUCT ANNOUNCEMENT: EMD SD45 returns in HO!
Broadway Limited is excited to announce a new production run of our popular EMD SD45 diesel locomotive in HO scale!
Originally produced by EMD between December 1965 and 1971, the SD45 was a freight-hauling powerhouse. Built on the same frame as the SD38 and SD40, it featured the 20-cylinder 645E3 engine with a formidable 3,600 horsepower output. A total of 1,260 units were built and served on legendary railroads including Burlington Northern, Southern Pacific, Santa Fe, Pennsylvania, Great Northern, Union Pacific, Northern Pacific, and many others.
Our HO models are available in two series:
- Paragon4 Series: Equipped with our latest Paragon4 Sound/DC/DCC control system with Rolling Thunder™, and integrated GoPack capacitor packs for smooth performance. Each model includes road-specific details and lighting.
- Stealth Series: These No-Sound, DCC-Ready versions operate on DC straight out of the box. Modelers can easily install their preferred decoder. Headlights are directional; other lighting is always on with track power (lighting functions may vary depending on the installed decoder). Note that these models come with an 8-ohm speaker already installed.
This run includes an exciting lineup of paint schemes your customers will love, such as:
- Erie Lackawanna Bicentennial
- Great Northern Big Sky Blue
- Leasing companies HLCX and MPI
- Montana Rail Link
- Wisconsin Central
- Louisville & Indiana
- Southern Pacific #7399 in its special Daylight commemorative scheme
Don’t miss out on this dynamic and versatile classic—perfect for any era-focused or freelance HO layout!
