Originally designed for freight service, these locomotives quickly proved their versatility. While most F-units operated in freight service, many were also assigned to short-distance passenger trains. Some railroads even equipped select units with steam generators, allowing them to handle long-distance passenger service as well. In total, 7,642 F-series locomotives were built, serving on railroads across North America and becoming some of the most recognizable diesels ever produced.

This production run features several fan favorite paint schemes, this includes Chesapeake and Ohio, Norfolk Southern's executive F units in their renumbered appearance, Rock Island, and Western Maryland Circus Scheme.

All of our models come equipped with either Paragon4 Sound/DCC/DC and in our Stealth DCC-Ready series.

About The F7: The EMD F7 is a 1,500 horsepower diesel locomotive built by General Motors' Electro-Motive Division between 1949 and 1953. The F7 was EMD's fourth model in the line of F-unit locomotives, and was by far the best-selling cab unit of all time. The F7 primarily differed from the F3 in internal equipment, but there were some noticeable external changes such as the grills and the dynamic brake hatches. F7's operated in both passenger and freight service, and many of them remained in service for decades.

Road-specific detail options in this production, prototypically accurate for each road name:

Pilot prototypical for paint scheme

Operating Mars Light where prototypical

Small horizontal and Large 45-degree numberboards

Prototypical horn

Water fill hatch location

Sand fill hatch location

Dynamic brake where prototypical

Cooling fans and exhaust hatch accurate per each prototype

Winterization hatch present where prototypically accurate

Multiple MU door options on front of model

Multiple skirt options above fuel tank

Ladder rest grab irons present where prototypically accurate

Grab iron ladder present where prototypically accurate

Eyebrow grab irons present where prototypically accurate

Grab irons above cab side windows where prototypically accurate

Roof antenna present and correct where prototypically accurate

Front and Rear lift lug present where accurate

Nose door number plate present where accurate

Model Features:

Paragon4 Sound & Control System featuring ROLLING THUNDER

Integral Dual-Mode Decoder with Back EMF for Superb Slow Speed Operation in DC and DCC

Precision Drive Mechanism Engineered for Heavy Towing and Smooth Slow Speed Operation

All Wheel Electrical Pick-up

ABS Body with Die Cast Chassis for Maximum Tractive Effort

Premium Caliber Painting

Prototypically Accurate Paint Schemes and Road Numbers

Many Separately Applied Details such as Handrails, Grab Irons, Horn, Bell, Wipers, and Etched Metal Grills

Prototypical Light Operation

Prototypically Accurate Sounds for the EMD F7 Diesel Locomotive

Metal Kadee-compatible Couplers (2)

Will Operate on Code 70, Code 83, and Code 100 Rail

Minimum Operating Radius: 18 inches

https://broadway-limited.com/products/10552-emd-f7a-c-o-7003-blue-w-yellow-nose-paragon4-sound-dc-dcc-ho
